There are two models of 100. Ealey model called 100-4 had 2600 cc inline four, while later model called 100-6 had 2600 cc inline six.
A windscreen of 100-4 can lean toward the driver.
The displacement of engine was enlarged from 2600 cc to 3000 cc for seeking more power.
- Sprite Mk1
It is a lovely car which is called Frogeye or Bugeye. Sprite Mk1 was introduced to meet a demand of a sports car most people afforded to buy. A monocoque body was adopted first and did not have a boot lid to avoid increasing its weight. The engine which was BMC A-type inline four from Austin A35 with twin 1 1/8" SU carburettors produced tiny 42.5 bhp. A front bonnet is lifted up with front wings. It made a great success since 48999 frogeyes were launched into market during 3 years of production. Although the engine power is small, thank to its light body weight and a quick rack and pinion steering, which is adopted from Morris Minor, frogeyes can run through a winding road as a real sports car.
- Sprite Mk. 2-4
Sprite Mk. 2 was introduced to succeed a successful Sprite Mk1. The characteristic face of Sprite Mk1 was disappeared. Early models had 948 cc A-type engines with 1 1/4" SU carburettors. Later Mk. 2 had 1098 cc engine. Mk. 4 had 1275 cc engine. As a contract with Donald Healey was expired, the name was changed into Austin Sprite. The model disappeared on the same year.
