has been chosen by the National Library of Medicine for Indexing in Index Medicus and MedLine. All issues starting with Volume 1, Number 1 have been indexed and available on MedLine already.

ISFA's sole mission is to serve and satisfy the needs of the members of the Society and others involved in the field of apheresis technologies.

1. The main objectives of ISFA is to disseminate on an international basis the most up-to-date apheresis technologies and their clinical applications so that all may benefit from the efforts of ISFA.

2. The membership of ISFA is composed of individuals and corporations interested in apheresis technologies and their application to various diseases worldwide.

3. ISFA will work within the international community of apheresis societies and intends to join the World Apheresis Association.

i) ISFA will organize and hold its congress every two years. The site of the ISFA congress will rotate among geographical regions, primarily the Americas, Europe, and Pan Pacific.
ii) ISFA will publish its official journal " Therapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis"
iii) ISFA will sponsor specific apheresis symposia both regionally and internationally.
iv) ISFA will strive to establish international educational programs for individuals involved in apheresis technologies.
v) ISFA will strive to establish safety, quality and efficacy guidelines for various apheresis technologies.
vi) ISFA will strive to establish guidelines for the optimal therapeutic regimens of the various disease states amenable to apheresis technologies.
vii) ISFA will strive to assess feasibility of apheresis technology with or without public, privates, corporate, or organizational requests, to satisfy not only global needs but also specific local requirements.
viii) ISFA will strive to establish a resource center to house most up-to-date apheresis technologies.

4. To achieve ISFA's mission, as described above, each member of ISFA will pay his or her membership fee as determined by the board of trustees. Manufacturers of devices, pharmaceutical companies and other firms related to apheresis technology will be encouraged to become corporate members of the Society.

5. To conduct the required activities of ISFA, its members will elect a Board of Trustees to prioritize the activities for which the board is responsible, including its financial and legal affairs.

1. Any individual, whose credentials are acceptable and whose qualifications satisfy one or more of the categories listed below, shall be eligible for membership.
2. Categories of individuals eligible for membership are as follows:
a. Physicians and other academically qualified professionals, who are
(1) duely licensed to practice in their field within the country in which they practice or one (2) in internship, residency or other types of training or (3) who may not be licensed but are employed by a governmental agency, an international organization or other comparable institution as decided by the Board;
b. Technical workers, nurses and other health professionals with or without baccalaureate degrees who are actively involved in the functions of an apheresis unit;
c. Persons who are engaged in administrative or donor related activities in the field of apheresis;
d. Members of blood banks or hospital boards, and others who have made outstanding contributions to the field and science of apheresis.

Dues Information

Membership Dues for 2009

  • Member: U.S. $150/yr. (open to those professionally engaged in the field)

This includes a subscription to gTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysish and a discount on ISFA conference registration.

  • Associate(student) member: U.S. $75/yr. (open to those interested in the field)

gTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysish is not included in $75 membership.
