On February 23, 2015, SUMS received three distinguished professors from Bangladesh: Professor Khondker Abdul Awal Rizvi, Secretary General of National Heart Foundation of Bangladesh; Professor Farooque Ahmed, Professor and Chief Cardiac Surgeon of Department of Cardiac Surgery, NHFH & RI; and Professor Sohel Reza Choudhury, Department of Epidemiology and Research, NHFH & RI. The signing ceremony of our agreement for academic cooperation with NHFH & RI was held at SUMS.

Mr. Motonori Tsukuno, Director of Kansai International Center, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), accompanied by Ms Minako Yamamoto, a member of the JICA Kansai, attended the signing ceremony as a special guest.
After the signing ceremony, Professor Awal and Professor Ahmed gave presentations on their respective institutions.

In the afternoon, the Bangladesh guests made a courtesy call on Professor Matsusue, the director of SUMS Hospital, and had a tour of the Hospital, in which they visited the Medical Safety Section, Ward 3-D (Cardiovascular Medicine & Cardiovascular Surgery), Radiology Service Section, Central Clinical Laboratory, and other sections. At the Ward 2-D (Orthopedic Surgery & Urology), they had a chance to participate in a medical conference. Through several activities during their stay at Shiga, we could deepen the friendship between NHFH & RI and SUMS.

We believe that further active exchanges under this agreement offer the prospect of development on education, research and clinical services.
