On the 2nd and 3rd of November, 2010, the excursion to Hida Takayama & Gujo Hachiman (Gifu prefecture) for the overseas students and researchers was held.
A total of 30 people, which is about 90 percent of our overseas students, researchers and their family members, took part in this bus tour, led by Vice-President Hattori, Prof. Aiura: the Director of the International Liaison Office and the escorting staff.
On the first day, they visited the solar power generation facility: “Solar Ark” in Hashima, and then the “Art & Festa Forest Museum” in Takayama. After that, they enjoyed “Onsen” (hot springs) at a Japanese-style hotel.
On the second day, they visited “Takayama Jinya”; which used to be a Samurai’s house and then was used as a public office from 1695 to 1969. They strolled at Morning Market held in front of the Jinya.
Then, they went to Gujo Hachiman to visit “Sample Village Iwasaki,” where they tried to make food samples from wax. Iwasaki is a unique company that creates food samples in the world.
All the participants seemed to have appreciated Japanese traditional culture and atmosphere; the latest technology and the unique artistic technique, and they were very satisfied with this excursion.
