On November 7, 2012, SUMS received three significant leaders from the medical community of Kenya: Prof. George A.O. Magoha, Vice Chancellor, UoN, Prof. Charles O. A. Omwandho, Dean, School of Medicine, UoN, and Dr. Solomon S.R. Mpoke, Director, KEMRI. We held the signing ceremony of our agreements for academic cooperation with UoN and with KEMRI.
After the signing ceremony, Professor Omwandho and Dr. Mpoke gave us presentations on their own institutions.
In the afternoon of that day, Kenyan guests had a tour of the University Hospital in which they visited the Central Clinical Laboratory, I.C.U., Endoscopy Center, Cancer Center, Skills Lab., Pediatric Ward, N.I.C.U. and Radiology Service Center.
The relationship between Kenya's medical community and SUMS has been constantly developing through the work of Dr. Fujiyama (Professor of the Internal Medicine department, SUMS) in the JICA project, and our students' short-time visits to study in Kenya.
These newly signed agreements will lead to more active cooperation and stronger friendship, and further developments in education, research and medical care will be expected.
