On November 13, at SUMS, President Bamba received a courtesy call by the delegation from “Kuakini,” Kuakini Health System / Kuakini Medical Center (Hawaii), including Dr. Gary Kajiwara, the President and CEO, and Dr. Nobuyuki Miki, the Vice President.
Kuakini is one of the main institutions for “Honolulu Heart Program/Honolulu Asia Aging Study” which is known worldwide as an epidemiological study for Japanese immigrants, and is also a teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Hawaii. Kuakini implements some collaborative researches (Comparative Study to NIPPON DATA, INTERMAP/INTERLIPID, ERA JUMP) with our Division of Health Science, Department of Social Medicine, and it has started to accept some of our 4th-year students for their independent study abroad, from this year.
The two institutions discussed future collaborative research, including our newly launched program which has been adopted as a Leading Graduate School Program for 2013, in order to deepen mutual cooperative ties.
