On November 18, 2013, the International Symposium was held to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the foundation of SUMS, with the representatives of four institutions which have had a particularly close friendship with SUMS: Harbin Medical University, Cho Ray Hospital, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City, and the National University of Malaysia.
In the morning, each institution including SUMS delivered presentation about its own features, unique efforts, and what it faces in education and research. After that, chaired by Vice President Hattori, the general discussion was held to exchange opinions on overcoming contemporary problems.
In the afternoon, two breakout sessions were held. One was conducted by the Molecular Neuroscience Research Center to present research results of our overseas students. The other was by the Surgery Department to discuss how to foster our overseas students and researchers in the field of surgery.
After the breakout sessions, the representatives from abroad had a tour of the Medical Museum and the University Hospital (Pharmacy, Radiology Service, Central Clinical Laboratory, Rehabilitation Section, Pediatrics, Wards and ICU.)
Through this symposium, we could strengthen close relationships among the agreement-holding institutions.
