From Friday, December 11 to Saturday, December 12, an excursion for overseas students, researchers and their family was held. A total number of 26 people participated in this bus tour to Gujo-Hachiman and Hida-Takayama area.

On the first day, they visited Mino-Seki Bussankan to see Seki Hamono products (fine cutting knives) and Mino washi (japanese papers) and have Japanese style lunch.

At Iwasaki sample village in Gujo-Hachiman, they experienced making food samples. Every participant were surprised to see the life-like samples which were displayed there and made samples of Tempura and the lettuce by themselves under the staff’s guidance. After that, they moved to the city center and explored the old street.

At night, they relaxed and enjoyed fully the Gero Onsen which is one of the three best hot springs in Japan.

On the second day, they toured the Gero Onsen Gassho village in the morning. They were able to imagine the life in old days in the mountain valley. In the afternoon, they visited the Matsuri no Mori (‘Festival Forest’) in Takayama city. Gorgeous festival floats and brilliant marionettes captivated them.

Participants were very satisfied by experiencing the food sample making which was the most requested activity from foreign students and enjoying the essence of traditional Japanese culture.
It was a fruitful and memorable two days of excursion.
