5. Banks |
|
Japanese government scholarships, and the housing
and medical fee reimbursement are all transferred into the individual's bank
account. You are all requested to open an account after your entrance to the
university.
Because some means of identification is necessary to go through the
formalities for opening a bank account, you should take with you personal identification
(Certificate of Alien Registration, Student I.D. Card, Passport).
Banks also
manage such affairs as payment of water, gas and health insurance fees, as well
as deposits (savings), and remittances. At some banks, foreign currency can be
exchanged for Japanese yen. Exchangeable currency varies with banks.
