1. International
House (Kokusai Koryu Kaikan) of Shiga University of Medical Science |

The International House is located in the corner
of the campus. The House is a three-story building, and consists of rooms for
students, as shown below, and facilities for common use. The rooms are available
for overseas students and scholars who are registered at Shiga University of
Medical Science, and their families. The period of residence should not be less
than one month nor more than one year. An extension of the period of stay may
be permitted in some circumstances. The residents are asked to abide by the Regulations
of the House. For further information about the above housing, ask at the Student
Division (Gakusei-ka).

2. Private
Apartments and Rooms to Rent |
| |
Japanese apartments and rooms to rent are usually unfurnished.
If you wish to live in an apartment or room(s) to rent, you should check what
is provided in the room(s) . When you first rent a room/rooms, it is customary
to pay a single sum of (non-refundable) key money (kenrikin or rei-kin) and a
deposit (shiki-kin) against damages. (payment [i.e., key money and a deposit
together] may be as much as approximately three months' your rent.) |

3. International
Student General Housing Insurance |
| |
This insurance is to insure those who live in apartments
or dormitories against property damages caused by fire, water leakage, failing
to pay your rent within a decent time, or not having enough money to make repairs
or restore your room to the original state. This insurance is for the benefit
of the property-owner, the tenant, and the tenant's guarantor in Japan, providing
economic security and peace of mind.
There are two courses (policies) depending
on the terms of contract; A course: 1 year (¥4,000 per term), B course: 2 years
(¥8,000 per term). Ask for details at Student Division (Gakusei-ka) . |

4. Change
of Address |
| |
When you move from your residence, you are requested
to report to the Student Division (Gakusei-ka) and to notify the following offices
of your change of address.
If you live in an apartment, you must inform the gas
company, the waterworks bureau and the electric company in order to settle your
accounts before you move.
You should report your change of address to
